Unstable surface training reduces falls risk in older adults significantly.
The study compared two types of exercise programs for older adults: one on stable surfaces and one on unstable surfaces. The goal was to see which type of training improved balance and strength better. The results showed that training on unstable surfaces was more effective at improving dynamic balance, while training on stable surfaces led to faster gains in muscle strength. Both groups improved their leg strength, but the group on unstable surfaces showed greater improvements in balance. This suggests that exercising on unstable surfaces could help older adults reduce their risk of falling.
