During the COVID-19 era, Democrats' inflation expectations stayed stable, while Republicans' expectations rose above target and became more sensitive to shocks like CPI releases and energy prices. Areas with more Republican affiliation saw higher actual inflation rates. If all expectations had been as unanchored as Republicans', inflation would have been 2-4% higher during the pandemic.
