Perceived Criminalization of LGBTIQ+ Community in Nigeria Sparks Controversy and Debate
The study looked at how people in a Nigerian city view LGBTIQ+ individuals. They found that many people see criminalization as a severe issue for LGBTIQ+ people. Gender was the main factor influencing how people perceive the LGBTIQ+ community. Most participants were harsher towards necrophilia and bestiality than towards gay and lesbian individuals. The study suggests ways to address negative perceptions and criminalization of LGBTIQ+ people in Nigeria.
