Conservative religious norms in Nigeria fuel stigma against LGBTQ+ community.
Religion in Nigeria influences attitudes towards sex, especially for LGBTQ+ individuals, limiting access to comprehensive sexual education. Conservative religious beliefs shape societal views on sex, leading to stigma against LGBTQ+ people. This study used a mix of interviews and surveys to show how religious teachings impact reproductive rights, STI rates among marginalized groups, and sex education strategies. The findings reveal that conservative religious values significantly affect society's perceptions of sex, contributing to stigma against LGBTQ+ individuals and hindering their access to sexual education.
