Gender-balanced elections fail to prioritize women in social media discourse.
The article examines how politicians communicate on social media during elections in Andalusia from a gender perspective. They looked at over 2,000 posts to see how women and gender issues were discussed. The researchers found that inclusive language and focus on women were not common in the posts. However, when gender was considered, the communication style towards women was more inclusive and policies affecting women were emphasized.
