Unsteady balance in 70-year-olds predicts future heart disease risk
Balance problems in 70-year-olds can predict cardiovascular disease. A study looked at 4927 older adults without heart issues and tested their balance using a balance board. Those with more side-to-side sway during the test were more likely to be hospitalized for cardiovascular problems like stroke or heart attack. Even with traditional risk factors considered, balance issues were still linked to a higher risk of heart disease. This suggests that poor balance could be an early sign of underlying heart issues in older adults.
