Prebunking messages combat distrust in delayed election results, study finds
Election delays can lead to distrust, but a video message before the delay info can help. Voters who learn about longer-than-expected vote counting times are less likely to trust the election. However, watching a "prebunking" video before hearing about the delay can offset the trust decrease caused by the delay. This means that informing voters about the reasons for delays can increase trust and counteract the distrust caused by unexpected delays in calling elections.
