Search engines fuel US election conspiracy theories, study finds.
The study looked at how search engines like Google, DuckDuckGo, and Bing showed news about the US 2020 election conspiracy theory. They found that most search results simply denied the conspiracy. Google had more articles debunking the conspiracy, while DuckDuckGo and Bing sometimes showed articles supporting it. Specific search terms didn't always lead to conspiracy content. Instead, broader search terms like "voter fraud 2020" were more likely to show conspiracy-supportive material.
