Pear leaves show resilience to high light stress, unlocking new farming potential.
The study looked at how pear leaves react to strong sunlight. They found that high light can harm the photosynthesis process in pear leaves, but this damage is reversible after a few hours in low light. The Xanthophyll cycle helps protect the leaves from this harm. Yali pear leaves are better at recovering from strong light stress compared to Whangkeumbae pear leaves. This shows that different types of pear trees can handle strong sunlight differently.
