Crop rotation, catch crops, and manure are crucial in organic farming without synthetic fertilizers. An experiment showed that a rotation with 43% nitrogen-fixing crops was most effective, especially with peas. Manure positively impacted grain yield, especially for winter wheat, but its effects only lasted two years. White mustard as a catch crop didn't improve cereal yields. Overall, the study found that a specific crop rotation with nitrogen-fixing crops and manure can significantly boost yields in organic agriculture.
