A new network called OTIS-Star combines electronic and optical features to improve on traditional star networks. The OTIS-Star addresses issues like limited efficiency in routing and broadcasting. The network's topological properties, such as size, degree, diameter, and number of links, were studied, and an efficient broadcasting algorithm was proposed.
