The Seagas gas pipeline system was created by converting an old oil pipeline to transport gas from Oklahoma to Texas. The pipeline was originally built in the 1970s to transport oil but became inactive due to reduced demand. Phillips Petroleum Co. bought the pipeline and repurposed it to gather gas for their refinery in Texas. The pipeline was divided into two sections, one for gas transportation in Oklahoma and the other in Texas.
