The article discusses how managing natural resources on private lands in the United States is challenging but important for environmental benefits. It was found that existing institutional arrangements in the Dry Creek watershed in West Tennessee are not equitable or adaptable, leading to the recommendation of establishing governance mechanisms at the watershed scale.
