Pavement markings reduce red-light running by 74.3% at intersections
A study used a driving simulator to test a new pavement marking design near intersections. The results showed that the marking reduced red-light running by 74.3% and helped drivers make safer decisions. Drivers liked the marking and it didn't affect their speed or braking. The study also found that large trucks can block visibility and increase rear-end collisions. Drivers tend to drive closer to large trucks, which can lead to more red-light running.
