Vegetation coverage in Henan Province declines by 30%, ecological environment deteriorates.
The researchers used satellite data to study vegetation in Henan Province, China. They found that from 2000 to 2013, vegetation coverage decreased by 30.49%, leading to a worse ecological environment. Vegetation increased in the west, south, and southwest, but decreased in the central and eastern areas. Cities with more urbanization had less vegetation. Areas with lower altitude and less steep slopes had more vegetation. Sunny and shady slopes had similar vegetation coverage.
