Revolutionary Fluidglass Facade Reduces Energy Use and Increases Comfort in Buildings.
High-rise buildings with transparent facades often have energy control issues. A new type of facade called fluidglass is being developed to improve energy efficiency and comfort. It acts as a shading, solar heating, and cooling system. The fluid-filled layers in the glass facade regulate heat and solar radiation, with one layer controlling absorption of sunlight and the other managing room temperature. By adjusting the fluid, the system can control energy transmission and shading. The inner layer also helps with heating and cooling, making air conditioning and heating equipment more efficient. Research shows that the thickness of the fluid layer doesn't affect transmission rate much, and using an ideal fluid can filter out unwanted light.
