MGNREGA Program in Nagaland Boosts Income and Savings for Beneficiaries
The study looked at the socio-economic characteristics of MGNREGA beneficiaries in Nagaland, India, focusing on employment generation and community empowerment. They found that most beneficiaries were middle-aged males with basic education and small land holdings. Their houses were mostly earthen, and they had low incomes with minimal savings. However, the program helped increase their savings through additional income. Employment generation was positively related to income and awareness of MGNREGA, while community empowerment was negatively related to age. Overall, the program had a good impact in the area by providing job opportunities and improving the income and savings habits of the beneficiaries.
