Replacing fish meal with canola meal decreases fish production in ponds.
The researchers tested using canola meal instead of fish meal in fish diets in ponds. They fed different diets to major carp species for five months and found that replacing fish meal with canola meal led to lower fish weight gains and overall fish yields. Catla catla showed the best growth, followed by Labeo rohita and Cirrhinus mrigala. The ponds with canola meal diets had lower fish production compared to the control diet with fish meal.
