Climate Change Amplifies Extreme Floods in China's Water Source Area
The study looked at how extreme floods in the upper Hanjiang basin, a key water source for China's South-to-North Water Diversion Project, might change with climate change. By analyzing historical and simulated data, researchers found that certain models better predicted extreme precipitation and flood events. Multivariate analysis, which considers both flood and precipitation data together, produced more accurate flood estimates for future planning and design.
