The study analyzed flood events at the confluence of the Soča and Vipava rivers to understand how they impact water levels. By using coincident frequency analysis, researchers found that high water levels in the Vipava river are influenced by increased discharge from the Soča river, causing backwater effects. To reduce the risk of flooding in the Vipava river, regulating the flow of the Soča river during high water events is crucial. This analysis helps in better flood protection and water management in the area.
