Soil with high clay content holds more water for plant growth!
The study looked at how rocks in soil affect how much water the soil can hold. They dug up soil samples from different areas in Ghana and tested how much water they could hold at different pressures. Soils with more clay held more water than soils with more rocks. The top layer of soil had more water than deeper layers. This information can help farmers know how much water their plants can get from the soil in that area.
