Coastal management practitioners need to understand and collaborate to develop effective ecosystem-based management plans. This approach considers both social and ecological aspects of ecosystems, but it's challenging for practitioners to implement due to the fragmented governance system. Few examples of coastal ecosystem-based management exist because it requires practitioners to work together across disciplines and jurisdictions.
