A vertical lift dryer was designed and tested to dry coal before it's turned into gas. This dryer could save money by drying coal at high pressure before using it in a gasifier. The researchers wanted to see if this dryer would work well in a real plant. They built a small version to test it out. The results of the testing are detailed in the report.
