Public Procurement Act in Ghana Hinders Adoption of Modern Construction Methods.
The Public Procurement Act 2003 in Ghana influences the use of non-traditional procurement systems by local government bodies. The Act outlines different methods for construction projects, but traditional systems may not meet current demands. The Act plays a role in why non-traditional systems are not widely used. The study surveyed architects, engineers, and procurement officers in the Ashanti region to gather data. Results show that the Act affects the choice of procurement systems. It is recommended that public entities formalize their procurement system selection process to make better decisions.
