Winter maize intercropped with potato leads to higher yields and profits.
A study was conducted to see how well different crops grow alongside winter maize in Uttar Pradesh. They found that planting maize with potato gave the best results, with the highest maize grain yield, land-use efficiency, and monetary return. Intercropping maize with pea also worked well. However, Indian mustard, toria, and wheat did not mix well with winter maize. Overall, planting maize with potato is the most efficient and profitable option for farmers in the region.
