By using computer models, researchers found that waves and currents carry sediment along the coast, leading to changes in the shoreline. Despite changes in the bay's shape, the port is moving towards a stable condition, and the shoreline won't block the port entrance. The study also suggests ways to deal with sediment buildup at the main breakwater.
