New soil moisture method predicts water flow, revolutionizing agriculture.
Saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ks) in soils is important for understanding water movement. Researchers used soil moisture constants and physical properties to predict Ks. They found that soil properties like bulk density and clay content directly affect Ks. Soil physical properties indirectly affect Ks through the permanent wilting point. By including moisture constants in the prediction models, they were able to more accurately predict Ks values in soils with similar physical conditions.
