Private Sector Driving Change in Trade Facilitation Progress Worldwide
The WTO has made progress in trade facilitation, with development banks and private sector involvement driving reform. The international community should cautiously impose new WTO obligations in this area. The WTO can continue to support reform and connect trade facilitation with overall trade goals. Development institutions should lead in building infrastructures for development. There is little need for a new aid platform, but using the Trade Policy Review Mechanism could increase transparency and understanding of progress.
