Pig manure composting boosts soil fertility and reduces waste pollution.
Composting pig manure with sawdust and leaves helps break down the waste in an eco-friendly way. The researchers studied how nitrogen changed during this process. They found that total nitrogen increased over 63 days, along with nitrate and organic nitrogen. Ammonium nitrogen levels peaked at day 7 and then decreased. Composting with sawdust reached maturity in 49 days, while adding leaves made it faster at 35 days. Ammonium nitrogen levels were linked to compost maturity, while nitrate and organic nitrogen were positively related. Leaves didn't affect nitrogen much but helped the compost mature.
