The researchers developed a new method to estimate parameters for a statistical model called G0 distribution, commonly used in analyzing SAR image data. By using a maximum likelihood approach with an expectation maximization algorithm, they were able to improve the accuracy of parameter estimation for G0 distribution. Experiments with simulated SAR data showed that their method outperformed other estimation techniques, demonstrating its effectiveness in analyzing this type of data.
