New hydrological model accurately predicts long-term runoff in Lena River Basin.
The scientists built a hydrological model to estimate long-term daily river flow in the Lena River Basin. The model considers factors like vegetation, snow, soil heat, and water exchange. It includes a land surface model and a runoff model for flood tracking on the river network. The model accurately reproduced the river flow from 1987 to 2003, showing its usefulness for simulating water circulation in northern rivers.
