Geographical restructuring shatters traditional regional divisions in American politics.
The economy and politics of the United States have changed in localized ways over the past 20 years, not in broad regional shifts. The idea of different regions competing against each other or restructuring in a big way is not accurate. Terms like 'core' and 'periphery' or 'sunbelt' and 'snowbelt' don't really apply anymore. There isn't as much political division between regions as some people think.
