The researchers studied heavy metal levels in fish from the Tuzla Lagoon. They tested three fish species and found that Sparus aurata had the highest levels of heavy metals in its muscle tissue. Different metals were found in different seasons, with some exceeding legal limits for human consumption. Overall, Mugil cephalus had the lowest heavy metal levels in its muscle, while the liver and gill tissues showed higher concentrations in some metals. This study highlights the importance of monitoring heavy metal levels in fish to ensure food safety.
