New wastewater system achieves 95% removal of pollutants, controls filaments.
A system was set up in a lab using wastewater from a treatment plant in Greece. They used a mix of aeration and feeding cycles to clean the water. By feeding the wastewater at specific times during the cycle, they achieved high removal rates of pollutants like BOD5 and ammonium nitrogen. The system also did a great job at removing total nitrogen, with an efficiency of 85-87%. This method also helped prevent the growth of certain types of organisms in the water.
