Unlocking Efficiency: Faster Visual Search for Asymmetry Among Symmetry Shapes
The researchers studied how people look for patterns in shapes. They found that it's easier to find a different shape in a group of similar shapes than to find a similar shape in a group of different shapes. This was true for both vertical and horizontal shapes. Even when the shapes were just dots, the same pattern held true. The researchers think this happens because our brains group similar shapes together, making it easier to spot the different one.
