Revolutionary method turns waste into glucose, fueling sustainable energy solutions.
Researchers successfully converted cellulose into glucose using high temperature and pressure steam. They tested two types of cellulosic materials and found that the highest yield of glucose was achieved at specific steam pressures and times. For one material, 52.8% of water soluble sugars were obtained, with 63.1% being glucose. For the other material, 67.7% of water soluble sugars were obtained, with 61.0% being glucose. This method could help make better use of unused cellulosic materials.
