A new game theory framework has been developed to study how strategic players make decisions involving costly computation. Traditional game theory rules may not apply, but the framework helps explain behavior in games like prisoner's dilemma and rock-paper-scissors. Equilibria can still exist under certain conditions. By applying this framework, a definition of protocol security has been created, showing a connection between game theory and cryptography in dealing with players who don't follow the rules.
