Optimizing Carp Polyculture: New Study Reveals Ideal Species Incorporation Levels
The researchers studied how adding a fish called kuria labeo to a carp farming system in India affects growth. They tested different levels of kuria labeo in the ponds and found that having 10% of kuria labeo in the mix led to higher fish weight compared to having 20%. However, the total amount of fish harvested remained the same. Kuria labeo at 10% weight was similar to mrigal at 20-30% weight. This suggests that having 10% kuria labeo is best for commercial carp farming.
