Climate change and human impact linked to vegetation changes in Swedish bog.
A study analyzed a peat core from Sweden to see how climate change and human activity affected the environment over the past 350 years. They used various indicators like plant remains and microscopic organisms to track changes in the bog. The researchers found that changes in the wetness of the bog were mostly due to climate factors like rainfall and evaporation. However, human activities, like land use and population growth, also played a role in shaping the landscape. During cold and wet periods, human impact decreased, while warmer and drier periods saw an increase in human activity and changes in vegetation.
