High Nitrogen Levels Decrease Rice and Wheat Yields, Optimal Rates Revealed.
The study looked at how different amounts of nitrogen fertilizer affect the growth of rice and wheat. They found that using too much nitrogen didn't increase crop yields. More nitrogen led to more plant growth before flowering, but less nutrients were transferred to the grains. Efficiency of nitrogen use decreased with higher nitrogen levels. The best results were seen with moderate nitrogen application, which maintained good plant growth and economic benefits for both rice and wheat.
