New plant species show promise in cleaning up harmful herbicide from soil.
The researchers tested different plant species to see which ones could help clean soil contaminated with a herbicide called trifloxysulfuron-sodium. They planted various plants in pots after applying the herbicide at different doses. After 80 days, they cut the plants and planted beans. The best plants for cleaning the herbicide from the soil were Mucuna aterrima and Canavalia ensiformis.
