Stat3 is a protein that gets activated by certain signals in the body. A protein called PIAS3 was found to bind to Stat3 and stop it from working. This only happens when Stat3 is activated by specific signals. PIAS3 doesn't affect another protein called Stat1. This shows that PIAS3 is a specific blocker of Stat3, stopping it from doing its job.
