Revolutionary method predicts soil water retention curves for dry conditions.
The study looked at predicting how soil retains water when it's very dry, using a new method called the Webb model. By analyzing data from 31 different types of soil, the researchers found that the Webb model accurately predicts water retention in dry conditions. This model smoothly transitions between dry and moist soil conditions, providing a better understanding of how water is held in soil across different levels of humidity. The results suggest that this approach can accurately describe water retention in soil without needing extensive experimental data.
