Urban expansion in China has led to changes in the environment around meteorological stations, affecting air temperature readings. By using remote sensing images, researchers identified stations that transitioned from rural to urban areas. They found that urban stations showed higher rates of temperature increase, especially in minimum temperatures. Winter, spring, and autumn temperatures rose more than summer temperatures.
