Gender wage gaps driven by sector-specific factors, not occupation, study finds.
The article compares the pay differences between men and women in different types of jobs in Finland. By looking at data from 2002 to 2009, the researchers found that gender wage gaps vary depending on the type of job and sector. They discovered that factors specific to each sector play a bigger role in these differences than factors specific to each type of job. This means that comparing gender pay gaps between innovation and non-innovation workers in a broad way might not give an accurate picture of the importance of intangible assets in determining wages.
