New fungi discovered to revolutionize wheat straw degradation and biotech applications!
White-rot fungi like Daedalea flavida and Phlebia spp. can break down wheat straw by targeting lignin using enzymes like lignin peroxidase, manganese peroxidase, and laccase. Compared to Phanerochaete chrysosporium, these fungi show better potential for biotechnological applications. Phlebia radiata and P. floridensis are top producers of manganese peroxidase and laccase, while P. chrysosporium excels in lignin peroxidase production.
