Cultured Mackerel: A New Source of Heart-Healthy Omega-3 Fatty Acids!
The study compared the nutritional content of farmed and wild mackerel fish. Wild mackerel had more protein, while farmed mackerel had higher fat levels. Wild fish had more free sterol in their muscles, while farmed fish had higher levels of certain phospholipids. Both types of fish contained important fatty acids like DHA and EPA, but farmed mackerel had higher levels of these healthy fats. This shows that farmed mackerel can also be a good source of beneficial omega-3 fatty acids.
