Vast Untapped Trove of Potential Drugs Discovered in Open Database
The NCI Open Database was compared to seven other large chemical databases to see how they differ. The NCI database has the most unique compounds, with around 200,000 structures not found in the other databases. The Cambridge Crystallographic Database and the World Drug Index have less overlap with the other databases. Commercial compound collections and vendor catalogs share many compounds. Each database has its own unique compounds, showing they all serve different purposes.
