Tidal currents shape estuaries, impacting flood patterns and energy distribution.
The study looked at how tides flow differently in a long estuary, a tidal creek, and a small side channel. They used data on water depth and current speed to see how the tides change in these areas. In the long estuary, the tides become more uneven as you go further in. In the tidal creek, the tides are strongest near the beginning and end of the creek. In the small side channel, the tides are strongest near low water. Overall, the study found that tides behave differently in each of these water systems.
