Paper Summary

The FASIT system automatically creates book indexes by grouping similar words together. It doesn't fully analyze the text but finds important words to use as index terms. Previous tests showed FASIT is good for finding related information. A new experiment shows FASIT is also useful for making book indexes. This method seems like it could be practical and effective for indexing books.
